How to Choose an AUO 7-Inch 800 × 480 LCD
The 14 AUO models reviewed here share a 7-inch, 800 × 480 WVGA format, but they are not interchangeable. Their signal interfaces, connector and power requirements, touch construction, brightness, operating limits and lifecycle positions differ. Use this guide to narrow a shortlist, then approve the exact part number against the latest controlled datasheet and a sample.
Start with the Application Requirement
Industrial HMI without touch
G070VAN01.0 specifies 480 cd/m² typical brightness and -30 to +80 °C operation. G070VAN01.3 lists 520 cd/m² typical brightness, but its final revision and production stage need written confirmation. G070VAN01.1 is a lower-brightness 200 cd/m² option for an indoor design review.
LVDS plus integrated LED driver
G070VW01.012 specifies 400 cd/m² typical brightness, a 20-pin LVDS input, an integrated 12 V backlight driver and -30 to +85 °C operation measured at the panel surface. That temperature wording must not be recast as an ambient-air rating.
Choose the touch technology
G070VAT01.0 combines an AHVA LCD with a projected-capacitive touch/cover-lens assembly. G070VTT01.0 uses separate four-wire resistive touch and a 40-pin parallel-RGB LCD interface. The touch-controller connection for G070VAT01.0 still needs the controlled assembly drawing.
Check pin count and rail design
A070VTN06.4 accepts 18/24-bit parallel RGB on a 50-pin connector and specifies 500 cd/m² typical brightness. Do not assume that another 40-, 50-, 51- or 60-pin RGB model shares its pinout or power sequence.
Very high brightness
G070VTN02.0 lists 1500 cd/m² typical and A070VTN06.1 lists 1250 cd/m² minimum center brightness. Both are discontinued. These different measurement categories should not be ranked as equivalent, and neither is a safe new-design choice without a current-supply plan.
Keep the full model suffix
G070VW01 V0, G070VW01 V002 and G070VW01.012 have similar names, but their panel technology, controlled drawings and backlight arrangements are not automatically the same. Match the rear label and AUO part number before evaluating a substitute.

Brightness values below are typical unless explicitly marked “minimum.” Temperature values are from the reviewed source for each model; “panel surface” and “absolute maximum” are not interchangeable with ordinary ambient operating ratings. “Confirm supply” means the reviewed datasheet does not establish current production or stock.
| Exact model | Display / touch | Brightness | Display input | Stated temperature | Selection / lifecycle note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| G070VAT01.0 | AHVA + projected-capacitive touch | 260 cd/m² typ. | 1-channel LVDS, 6/8-bit | -20 to +70 °C operation | Cover-lens assembly; touch-controller details and latest controlled PDF need confirmation. |
| G070VAN01.3 | AHVA; no touch | 520 cd/m² typ. | 30-pin LVDS, 6/8-bit | -20 to +70 °C operation | 2026 new-model planning; confirm final specification and production stage in writing. |
| G070VAN01.1 | AHVA; no touch | 200 cd/m² typ. | 30-pin LVDS, 6/8-bit | -20 to +70 °C operation | Indoor/controlled-light comparison; confirm supply. |
| G070VW01.012 | AHVA; no touch | 400 cd/m² typ. | 20-pin LVDS, 6/8-bit | -30 to +85 °C, panel surface | Integrated 12 V LED driver; confirm supply and exact 97D07G01.012 part number. |
| A070VTN06.4 | Normally white; no touch | 500 cd/m² typ. | 50-pin, 18/24-bit parallel RGB | -30 to +80 °C operation | Wide-temperature RGB candidate; confirm current lifecycle and power sequence. |
| G070VAN01.0 | AHVA; no touch | 480 cd/m² typ. | 30-pin, 1-channel LVDS | -30 to +80 °C operation | Wide-view LVDS candidate; reviewed factory variant is G070VAN01.0 (001); confirm supply. |
| G070VTT01.0 | TN + four-wire resistive touch | 380 cd/m² typ. | 40-pin, 6-bit parallel RGB | -20 to +70 °C operation | Use AUO Ver. 1.4 value of 380, not the older 360 cd/m² figure; confirm supply. |
| G070VTN01.0 | TN; no touch | 300 cd/m² typ. | 20-pin LVDS, 6/8-bit | -20 to +70 °C operation | Older 2013 specification; present lifecycle requires confirmation. |
| G070VW01 V002 | TN; no touch | 400 cd/m² typ. | 20-pin LVDS, 6/8-bit | -30 to +85 °C, panel surface | Discontinued per product record; AUO document also uses the shortened “V0” designation. Match the full label. |
| G070VW01 V0 | TN; no touch | 400 cd/m² typ. | 20-pin LVDS, 6/8-bit | -30 to +85 °C, panel surface | Discontinued in 2016 per supplier history; not a direct substitute for V002 or .012. |
| G070VVN01.2 | AMVA; no touch | 600 cd/m² typ. | 50-pin parallel RGB, 6/8-bit | -20 to +70 °C operation | Discontinued in 2021 per supplier history; service/replacement reference. |
| G070VTN02.0 | TN; no touch | 1500 cd/m² typ. | 50-pin, 6-bit parallel RGB | -30 to +70 °C in absolute-maximum table | Discontinued in 2018 per supplier history; external LCD/gamma rails; no verified drop-in successor. |
| A070VTN06.1 | Normally white; no touch | 1250 cd/m² min. | 51-pin, 16-bit parallel RGB | General operating range not stated in reviewed Ver. 0.8 | Discontinued. Do not repeat the unverified -30 to +85 °C rating from older listings. |
| A070VW08 V2 | TN; no touch | 500 cd/m² typ. | 60-pin, 24-bit parallel RGB + 3-wire SPI | -20 to +70 °C operation | Discontinued. Part numbers 97.07A19.200 and .201 have revision-specific details. |
Five Checks That Prevent a Wrong 7-Inch Panel Selection
- Match the complete model and part number. Keep every suffix, such as V0, V002, .012 or (001). Photograph the rear label and compare it with the exact AUO document cover and outline drawing.
- Match the signal, not just “800 × 480.” A 20- or 30-pin LVDS input is not a 40-, 50-, 51- or 60-pin parallel-RGB input. A070VW08 V2 also uses SPI for control; SPI does not make its display input equivalent to LVDS.
- Design the backlight and power separately. Some G070VW01 versions contain a 12 V LED driver, while many other models need external constant-current LED drive. Check panel rails, start-up sequence, dimming and the host connector pinout.
- Interpret optical and environmental figures correctly. Typical and minimum brightness are different; viewing-angle test thresholds can differ. Panel-surface temperature, ambient temperature, absolute maximum and reliability-test conditions are not interchangeable. Cover glass and bonding also affect final-system visibility.
- Validate the complete assembly. Compare active area, outline, mounting, connector location, touch FPC, cover lens, cable, EMI and thermal behavior. Test a sample in the intended host before approving a replacement or volume order.
